Back to top While the OHNIG executive members attended the RNAO AGM 3 day Assembly and AGM April 7, 8 and 9th there was an OHNIG Executive meeting on Saturday Morning April 9, 2011. Discussion included ways that OHNIG could promote Occupational Health Nursing and better collaboration with other Occupational Health Nurse groups. Back to top Occupational Health and Environmental Safety specialists work in a place of business rendering appropriate services to maintain the health of the employees employed by that business. Many times in the past the place of business mandated that the occupational health services merely follow the progress of the health of the employee group primarily to maintain a low absence rate as the most cost effective method. The company management ignored the knowledge and expertise of their occupational health nurse to provide value added services that ultimately produced greater cost benefits. It is time to change this out of date thinking as the method of operation to use and totally lacks proper prevention control of occupational and environmental health hazards. ... read more |
